皆さん、こんにちは。
ガーナでソーラー発電教育のアシストをしているみやたかです。

写真は先週、髪の毛を切ってもらった後のもの。
まぁ1時間近くかけてバリカンとカミソリで切ってもらって
この髪型なら大満足。周りからも好評です。

そしてこの写真を同僚に撮ってもらった後、校長先生から
「ちょっと今来てくれないか？」と呼び出されました。

Hello, I'm Takayoshi Miyazaki
a Japanese volunteer working for a technical school
as a solar energy education advisor in Ghana, Africa.

The barber cut my hairs with an electric clipper and a razor about 1hour. I'm satisfied with this hair style and they say it's nice.

When I asked a colleague to tale this picture,
the principal phoned me to come his office soon.

「何があったんだろう？」と思い校長室に行くと
校長先生がこのソーラーLEDランタンを見せてくれました。
「たかさん、これを学校で作れないですか？」

“What happens?” I thought and when I visited his office.
He showed me this bottle solar lantern.
"Taka-san, can we create this in our school?"

このランタンの一番上には小さなソーラーパネルがついています。

There is a small solar panel on the top of this bottle lantern.

このランタンは南アフリカ共和国で作られているもので、
バー（酒場）などのインテリアに使用されているのだとか。
このLEDランタンの生産は現地の人々の仕事につながっているそうです。

This lantern is made in South Africa and it is used as interior light in a bar、thus this solar LED lantern production has created local employment in South Africa.

ただこれ、学校で今までこういう製品の生産・販売実績は全くないので
１から回路デザイン、部品調達、組み立て等
をしていく必要があり、さすがに今からでは厳しいかなと感じています。

However, our school has never produced this type of gadget,
so we have to do a lot of works, like circuit design, parts supply,
assemble process etc and it's too hard for us to consider them now.

僕も校長先生の思想には納得しているので、もう少し負担を減らしつつ
雇用創出などの効果がある製品を考えていければなと思っています。

I'm convinced his idea so we should consider better ways to produce this kind of school gadgets and create local employment with more reasonable production process.

話変わって、この背の高いのはソーラーストリートライトといって
電線がなくてもソーラーパネルで充電したバッテリーで電球がつく街灯。
寄付で設置されることが多く、ガーナのいろんなところで目にします。

By the way, this is solar street light that works without national grid because It can store electricity with solar panel and battery. It is often installed by donation and we can find them in whole Ghana.

ただ寂しいことに、町にある多くが故障でまともに動いていないのです。
そして、地域によっては太陽光に対する設置角度が合っていないものも。
正しい知識を持つ技術者の育成が必要だなと感じます。

Unfortunately, many of them in our town don't work well.
Some solar panels aren't applied for the suitable angle in Ghana.
I feel we should grow well-trained solar engineer in our school.

ただ、これを修理して利益を得られないか？という同僚の意見もあって
これも学校のソーラープロジェクトに組み込んでみようと考えています。
（先月参加した短期講習の写真、同僚も設置経験済で何とかなる！）

One of my colleagues suggested me to repair spoiled systems and receive benefit. We are going to put this repairing program in our solar project.
(We have experienced how to launch solar street light, so we can do it!)
