ガーナってどこにあるの？＋ガーナの紙幣について

今回はガーナってどこにあるのか、そして紙幣について。

ガーナはアフリカの西側にあります。

そして日本から飛行機で約23時間かかります。（今回はエミレーツ航空で成田からドバイまで11時間、乗り継ぎで4時間、乗り継いでドバイからガーナまで8時間かかりました。）

そして日本との時差は-9時間あります.

日本で人々が起きはじめる朝6時、ガーナは夜9時でまだ就寝前です。

Do you know where Ghana is on a map and the currency in Ghana?

Ghana is located in west Africa, and it takes about 23 hours from Japan to Ghana by Emirates. (In this time, we spent 11 hours from Narita to Dubai, 4 hours for transit, then 8 hours from Dubai to Ghana).

In addition, there is a 9 hour time difference between Japan and Ghana. When you get up at 6:00am, it’s 9:00pm, bed time in Ghana.

さて、そんなガーナについたらまず両替。

ガーナのお金はガーナセディ(GH₵)といいます。

日本円にすると1セディ＝37円くらいです(2014.12.02現在)。

そしてこれがガーナのお金です。

もちろんこのほかにぺセワと呼ばれる硬貨もあります。

あれ、よく見るとGH₵2だけ何か変ですね。

他のは6人なのに、GH₵2だけ１人。

この方は一体誰なんでしょう？この方は、ガーナの初代大統領のクワメ・エンクルマさん。

これには理由があって、2007年にガーナはデノミ（通貨単位切り替え）を行い、セディからガーナセディと呼ばれる通貨単位に切り替えました。

その際GH₵1, GH₵5, GH₵10, GH₵20そしてGH₵50が発行されました。

肖像はガーナの独立に貢献したBig6と言われる6人の方々（エンクルマさんも含まれています）。

しかし、このデノミの結果GH₵1を大量に刷る必要が生じ、そのコスト軽減ために2010年にガーナはGH₵2を導入しました。

そのGH₵2の肖像絵に使われたのが2009年にちょうど生誕100年を迎えたガーナの初代大統領クワメ・エンクルマさんだったというわけです。

Hm? It looks strange because the portrait on 2 GH₵ is different from other GH₵ bills. One portrait is printed on GH₵2, on the other hand, six portraits on other bills.

Do you know who he is on GH₵2? He is Kwame Nkrumah, the first president in Ghana.

The reason is following; in 2007, Ghana changes their currency, from Cedi to Ghana Cedi as redenomination. At that time, the bills, GH₵1, 5, 10, 20 and 50, were issued. The people of the portraits on the bills are called Big 6, contributed to independence in Ghana, including Kwame Nkrumah.

At the result of this redenomination, GH₵1 was needed more and more, so the government introduced GH₵2 in 2010 to reduce the print cost of GH₵1. The year 2009 was 100th birthday anniversary of Kwame Nkrumah, the first president, so he was adopted as a portrait on GH₵2.
