ガーナの携帯電話事情
今回はガーナの携帯電話事情についてお話します。
僕は、このブログを毎週更新しているわけですが、
そもそもガーナでインターネットってできるんだ！と思われた方、多いと思います。
結論から言うと、携帯電話が通じるところであればおそらく世界中どこでもインターネットはできます。僕はスマートフォンの「テザリング機能」を通してパソコンからこのブログを更新しています。しかし、いきなり日本で契約したスマートフォンを持って海外に行ってすぐに使える！というわけでもないんです。
詳細は割愛しますが、海外旅行先でインターネット使う方法としては以下の方法が手軽でお勧めです。
１．SIMフリースマートフォンを持って行く。
２．日本のショップで手持ちのスマートフォンをSIMロック解除して持って行く。
３．SIMフリーWIFIモバイルルータを持って行く。（WIFIを通してスマートフォンやパソコンにつなげる。）
さて、これらの機器を実際に使うためには、現地で「SIMカード」を購入し、セットする必要があります。日本でも最近「格安SIM」が話題になっており、SIMという言葉を聞いたことがある方は多いと思います。

As a result, you can use internet wherever mobile network is available.
I always tether my laptop computer to my smart phone when I want to use internet.
However, you can’t use your smartphone contracted with Japanese Telephone Company as soon as you arrive at a foreign country.
I will skip the details, but I recommend the following methods that you can use internet abroad.
1. Bring SIM free smart phone from Japan.
2. Bring your smart phone after getting an unlock service at a mobile phone shop.
3. Bring SIM free router from Japan.
In addition, if you want to use above gadgets, you have to buy SIM card there, not in Japan, and insert it into them. I wonder if some people have heard “cheap SIM”, one of the popular topics in Japan.

さて、ガーナには大きく５つの電話会社があります。
MTN, Vodafone, Tigo, Airtel, GLOです。
SIMカードの購入方法ですが、ガーナでは各携帯電話ショップに行かなくてもSIMカードは近所のお店で買うことができます。こちらでは1枚GHC2（70円くらい）です。SIMには固有の電話番号が入っており、それを携帯電話やモバイルルータにセットして使うというわけです。
In Ghana, there are 5 big telephone companies, MTN, Vodafone, Tigo, Airtel, and GLO.
Talking about a way to get SIM card, you can buy it at not only a telecom shop but also a street stall. It’s about GHC2, about 70yen here. A SIM card has its own telephone number, and you can use it after inserting into a mobile phone or a router.

料金は事前にRechargeカードという、いわゆるプリペイドカード（紙のチケット）で支払います。このカードはどの町や村のお店でも売っています。裏面の銀部分を削って出てきた10数ケタの番号を携帯電話を使って発信することで金額がチャージされ、電話が使えるようになるわけです。日本の電話契約のようなポストペイド（後払い）ではありません。
地域によってつながりやすさの度合いが違います。首都部では４G（LTE）も敷設されてきていますが、田舎ではほとんど低速の２G回線です。これからガーナに旅行で行かれる方、協力隊で行かれる方、参考にして頂ければと思います。
Also you can pay the cost of telephone through recharge card, a kind of prepaid cards sold at many shops in every community in Ghana. First, scratch on the back and check the digit number. Next, type a register code on your mobile phone, like *124# and follow the digit number then type “#” as the end of the code. Finally, push a call button. The paid system of telephone in Ghana is different from that in Japan.
The accessibility of internet webpage is different depending on the area. You can use LTE network at limited place in Accra, the capital city in Ghana, but almost all mobile networks in rural area are very slow. I wish this information will help volunteers and travelers start using internet in Ghana.
