ガーナでソーラー発電教育のアシストをしているみやたかです。

さて今日は天気が良かったので太陽光でゆで卵を作ることにしました。
「え？太陽光でゆで卵を？」なんて話ですが
実はできるんですよ、これが。

Hello, I'm Takayoshi Miyazaki
a Japanese volunteer working for a technical school
as a solar energy education advisor in Ghana, Africa.

It was fine day today so I cooked eggs with solar energy.
"Really? Can you cook egg by solar energy?" It sounds like a tale
but it’s true, we can do it.

必要なものはここガーナでも準備できます。
卵、黒い布、段ボール、トイレットペーパーの芯、そしてアルミホイル。
アルミホイルは乗り合いバスで片道40分先の雑貨屋さんで買いました。

We can get items easily for the cooking such as egg, black cloth,
card board, toilet paper core and aluminum foil. I could get the foil
at a store about 40 minutes' drive from my school.

まず卵を黒い布で包みます。

At first, cover an egg with black cloth.

それを切ったトイレットペーパーの芯の上に置くと安定します。

Then make it stable on the peace of toilet paper core.

あとは紙で箱を折って底と周りを段ボール補強。アルミホイルで覆います。
まわりにつける太陽光反射パネルも紙で作ってアルミホイルで覆います。
この反射パネルで周りの光を箱の中に集めるというわけ。

Secondly, fold A4 paper into a box and put some pieces of card board on bottom and each side, then cover them with aluminum foil. In addition, create 4 light reflectors with paper and aluminum foil then insert them between card board piece and paper box. It helps concentrating solar energy to the box inside.

ここにさっき作った、布をかぶせた卵を入れちゃいましょう。
そしてこれを外に置きます。

Thirdly put the egg with black cloth and finally put it outside..

朝早いと太陽がまだ強くないので、10～11時くらいがいいと思います。
そして大体2～3時間くらい置いてください。

Sunlight is not strong in the morning so I recommend putting at 10- 11:00a.m.
Then leave it several hours.

太陽光が箱の中に入りやすいよう
1時間に1回くらい向きを調整すると早く料理できます。
途中卵をとり出して触って温度を確認するのもいいですね。

Change the box angle 1 time per hour to help the light enter the box easily, and we can cook the egg faster.
Also it is nice to check the temperature of the egg with hand in the cook hours.

一般にこのような装置はソーラークッカーと呼ばれています。
結構大きめのものが普通で、例えばこれだと卵が4つ入ります。

In general, it is called "Solar cooker" and it's big and powerful.
I've already created it with some webpage information and I could put 4 eggs in the cooker. Big size is common in solar cooker.

ただ、後ろにあるこの大きいものは作るのが結構面倒で大変です。
なのでこちらの小さい方は一般に知られるものより相当簡単にしました。
こんな簡単なものでもゆで卵ができてしまう科学が色々詰まっています。

However, it's hard to create the bigger one, so I designed
smaller one with simple structure.
This smaller one is also based on science and it can cook egg.

「いつこれを僕達に教えてくれるんだい？」という話をよく聞きます。
基本的には先生に教えて、それを実践してもらう形が良いのですが、
学習させる科目が多すぎて、授業に組み込むことが難しいんだとか。

"Taka, when will you teach this to us?" sometimes I heard this phrase.
I hope teachers become interested and try to teach in the class,
but due to the huge contents in syllabus, it’s too heavy for them to put in curriculum.

「いっそ、太陽電池コース作って色々やっちゃおうか！」
とプロジェクトを一緒に進めている先生方とは話をしています。
自身の殻をつき破り、新たなステージへ進みたいものです。

"OK, how about launching a new solar technology system course in this school!"
We will break out of the shell and go to next stage.
