３．木の先の方をくり抜く。
写真のような四角い溝ができるようナイフでくり抜いていきます。溝の表面からは樹液であるパームジュースが染み出てきます。

次に、このくぼみに穴を開けます。そしてあけた穴に細い竹を切って差し込みます。 するとこの竹の筒がパイプの役割をはたし、パームジュースが下に流れ出てくるわけです。
